Each year, more than two billion tons of aggregates are used in the United States. There are only two basic industries which provide us with everything we need to live: agriculture and mining. If it can't be grown it has to be mined. Aggregates produced by mining and used in construction are vital to our everyday life. Graymont uses the aggregates it produces to make ready mix concrete for home foundations, sidewalks, bridges and commercial construction and asphalt for roadways, bridges and parking areas. Pure aggregate is used for sub-base and drainage. Different types of aggregate are used in the manufacture of paint, plastics, medicine, glass, and numerous other products.
Graymont Materials is one of the largest producers of crushed stone in New York and Quebec. Our nine quarries and numerous sand and gravel operations provide crushed stone and stone products to help fill the area's construction needs.
Materials are produced to certain specifications as detailed by both New York State's Department of Transportation and Quebec's Ministry of Transport. Where specifications do not coincide with Federal or other specifying agency requirements, custom processing is available.
Sand and gravel is a type of aggregate obtained by mining an unconsolidated bank of material. Graymont Materials owns and operates numerous sand and gravel pits which provide customers with low cost fill and sub-base materials.
