Richmond, January 29, 2010 – Ecowaste, a subsidiary of Graymont, recently donated funds and Olympic Red Mittens to the City of Richmond. The mittens will be given as a souvenir to 290 student volunteers, known as the Green Ambassadors, working at the O Zone Festival during the Olympic games. The students will be responsible for ensuring that visitors use the recycle bins correctly.
Tom Land, Ecowaste’s General Manager explained “The donation came about as a result of our working relationship with the City of Richmond Environmental Department. Together we saw a nice fit between our mutual interests in the environment and waste management and the needs for the volunteers to be ambassadors at the O Zone. Not only are they providing valuable direction to site visitors but they are to keep what will be a very busy site orderly and clean. Our contribution will provide the Olympic Red Mitts to the Green Ambassadors as well as other support for these volunteers during the Olympic Games celebrations in Richmond.”
